THE IMPORTANCE OF DECORATION IN A MUSEUM OR ON THE OCCASION OF AN EXHIBITION

Each museum has its own "positioning": contemporary art, the 19th century, fashion, science and technology, etc. Each has exhibition spaces, volumes or facilities that allow them to organise certain exhibitions, or not. These intrinsic characteristics can also be optimised, via museography, scenography, and also decoration.

Indeed, the presentation of the "exhibits" displayed depends on these factors. The same work will not have the same impact according to its presentation. Lighting, furniture, colours, materials, works nearby, everything must be studied to enable a specific work or object to be highlighted. The decoration is therefore of particular importance, since that is what will make it possible to constitute a setting in which to arrange the works exhibited. This is why the decoration must necessarily be carefully selected.

CTN offers a complete range of products for decorating museums and exhibition halls. This offer includes floor coverings and fabrics for the covering of walls, windows, ceilings and museographic equipment.

For floors, CTN has a wide range of thick carpets that are resistant and perfectly adapted to zones of intensive passage. Enabling the installation of an attractive welcome area, these carpets are also available in different aspects and materials — needled, glittery, velvet, fur, etc. All these carpets are available in several dozen colours. For a more original and natural decor, you can also opt for vinyl floor coverings. Plain or imitation parquet, waxed concrete, mirror, turf, cement, etc., you will have no difficulty in finding the flooring you need for the decor of your museum or exhibition room.

In terms of fabrics, the company supplies museums, in particular, with drapes and curtains. Here too, the materials in the catalogue are numerous, and each correspond to the possibility of multiple uses. CTN is a specialist in brushed cotton, which it has been marketing for more than forty years. This fabric is available in different weights and in many colours. For museums, it is mainly used to make hangings and curtains. Apart from brushed cotton, you can also find Lycra, faux leather, blackout fabric, acoustic fabric, etc., in our quality sourcing.

SERVICES TO COMPLEMENT CTN 'S OFFER

Floor coverings and fabrics are also customisable. The carpets sold by CTN can thus be printed, thanks to a digital printing service developed by the company. Museums can therefore have anything they wish printed on carpets and other mats provided by CTN. Colours, patterns, texts, logos, etc., anything is possible. There is no limit, in creative terms, to this tailor-made printing. This service is also offered for the many fabrics sold by CTN so that you can give free rein to all your desires for unique and customised decor. In addition to the customised printing service, CTN also provides another service that is very popular with our customers. Thanks to its own sewing workshop, fully integrated into the company, CTN can in fact manufacture the curtains and drapes according to customers' requests. This customised manufacture is particularly useful for the dimensions, and also for the finishes, in the upper and/or lower parts.

REDUCING WASTE AND POLLUTION THANKS TO CTN RECYCLING

The two main products provided to museums can benefit from CTN Recycling. This responsible approach, developed by the company, makes it possible to reprocess part of the fabrics and carpets after use. The brushed cotton curtains and drapes can thus be recovered by CTN for recycling, then integrated into insulation panels. A doubly virtuous approach, since, on the one hand it prevents cotton from being thrown away, and on the other hand it allows this cotton to reduce heating costs, and therefore energy consumption. This is the same logic that guides the Rewind® carpet recycling process. Once collected, the used carpet is reduced to pellets. Pellets which, in a second step, are transformed into PP plastic objects. In order for these two materials to be recycled, customers and CTN must agree on the procedure to be followed. Carpets and fabrics can in fact be either collected directly by CTN, at the exhibition site for example, or brought by the customer to CTN.

Regardless of the solution adopted, CTN gives customers a recovery certification at the end of recycling.

To conclude, CTN supports event decoration professionals by providing them with solutions for flooring, walls and ceilings to allow them, among other things, to carefully decorate museums and exhibition rooms and create an immersive atmosphere.
